Our coffee is freshly ground, we use Roumbouts medium roast beans, suitable for anytime of the day. We also do speciality teas and hot chocolates, a varied range of smoothies and milkshakes and also a well stocked fridge with cold soft drinks.
The Café can seat up to 36 people . We do allow dogs inside and out side of the café. We are available for private parties on a evening, we are not licenced, but we do have a large range of drinks hot & cold. Menus can be tailored to suit or mix and match from our buffet menus.
Built in 1337 12 Newgate is one of the oldest houses in York. Built on the cemetery of St. Sampson. 12 Newgate over looks Shambles market and has good views of York Minster & St. Sampson church. From 1337 until 1970 the building was occupied as a house. From 1970 until 2015 it was an opticians. From 2015 it was transformed into a film & music themed café. The top floor is haunted, there have been several sightings of things that cannot be explained. This is a one of a kind building with wooden floors & oak beams. The quirky atmosphere adds to the charm it has to be seen to be appreciated.
We pride ourselves on using local suppliers, our sausages are supplied by the butcher, Swains of York are only 12ft away on the market. All our food is home - made. We have a varied menu and we feel we cater for everyone.
